It is no secret that the history of African Americans and their contributions to America are often an under told story. There is an aggressive move to study the places that defined African American life after the Civil War. These sessions will provide first hand samples and insights about the lives of these “early placemakers”.

There are many people in various places working to preserve what’s left of our most historic places. The sessions in this track will focus on practical solutions for getting the job done. Learn from the people on the ground working to preserve important places of cultural significance.

Our conference aims to present diverse viewpoints by including workshops and sessions from various perspectives that range from preservation, housing, economics, displacement, youth, cemetery restoration and more. The conference is perfect for people seeking to learn about, engage and plan with communities of color.
